The AD Ports group plans to build a container terminal in Pointe-Noire, aiming to transform the port into a regional hub.

The Abu Dhabi Ports group (AD Ports) has announced its intention to develop a new container terminal at the port of Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo. This project, representing an investment of $200 million, aims to strengthen the country's port infrastructure and make it a key point for trade exchanges in Central Africa.
According to a statement from AD Ports, the construction of this terminal is driven by the goal of transforming the Congolese port into a regional hub capable of accommodating various types of goods. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at diversifying the port's activities and attracting more economic operators.
The project also includes the creation of a special economic zone, which is expected to promote the establishment of local and international businesses. “By developing this special economic zone, we want to create a dynamic ecosystem that will benefit the entire Congolese economy,” said a representative of AD Ports.
Government sources have indicated that this project could also generate several thousand jobs, both during the construction phase and once the terminal is operational. The development of port infrastructure is crucial for improving the country's competitiveness in the regional and international markets.
This project could also have implications for trade exchanges with neighboring countries, particularly the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where AD Ports is already exploring similar opportunities at the port of Matadi. According to a report from RFI, this cooperation could pave the way for stronger economic integration between the two nations.
