Ennahdha affirms there understanding of popular anger, particularly among young people. The party says it is concerned about the governmental vacuum and calls for the formation of a government capable of addressing health, economic and social priorities. The party in opposition to Kaïs Saïed calls for a swift return to the rule of law and for the lifting of the freeze on Parliament's activities.
The Islamist-conservative party says it is concerned about the arrests that have taken place in recent days and the prosecution of civilians by military courts. It wishes for the opening of national dialogue and calls for vigilance and peaceful struggle.
The Shura discussions were held until early morning. Ennahdha is currently highly divided. Some party members even announced on social media that they had withdrawn from the council.
A faction of the movement even wishes to see Rached Ghannouchi, who has led Ennahdha for 30 years, be replaced. He is considered by some to be responsible for the current political deadlocks. The 80-year-old politician suffered a health incident last weekend. He went to the hospital twice while recovering from COVID-19.
