The National Electoral Authority announced the list of provisional results from legislative elections held last weekend in the country. While 48 constituencies still must go to a second round, 92 deputies have already been elected. If some heavyweights are confirmed in their positions, there are nonetheless some surprises.

It was without great surprise that opposition leaders such as Anicet Georges Dologuélé and Martin Ziguélé were re-elected in their constituencies. Prime Minister Firmin Ngrebada was elected in the first round in Boali.
On the other hand, some important figures in Parliament were not returned. This is the case of Timoléon Baikoua and also Vice-President of the National Assembly Jean-Symphorien Mapenzi. He was defeated by Henry-José Gbogouda, the Prime Minister's chief of staff, who ran as an independent.
Like him, several personalities close to the presidential movement but with the independent label are making their entry into the National Assembly: this is the case of Jean-Sosthène Dengbe, the director of cabinet of the Interior Minister, and also Evariste Ngamana, the spokesman for the United Hearts Movement.
Finally, there are new figures but already well-known in Bangui who will sit in the opposition. This is the case of Dominique Yandocka and also Joseph Bendounga, known for his candor. "We are gradually witnessing a reconfiguration of the Central African political landscape," comments a civil society figure.
