These figures are nearly those announced by the CENI (National Independent Electoral Commission) on February 23. Little change, then, despite the opposition's appeal which again this week claimed to have over 3,000 disputed cases justifying the annulation of certain results.
Sunday evening, Abdourahamane Zakaria, spokesman for Mohamed Bazoum, hailed this victory, which he considers as "the expression of popular sovereignty". When asked about possible contestations, he recalled that the Constitutional Court is the highest judicial authority in the country. "It is over," he said. "We must now get to work."
For its part, RDR-Tchanji, the party of Mahamane Ousmane, has not yet reacted. Party officials are currently in a meeting. During his last statement this week, the opposition candidate assured that he would not allow himself to have the victory "stolen", while recalling that he would resist "in full legality".
