Since October 20, 2020, the day after the presidential election in Guinea, the offices of UFDG president Cellou Dalein Diallo and the opposition party's headquarters have been closed by order of Guinean authorities. Opposition lawyers have been fighting for their reopening ever since. They suffered a setback on Wednesday when a judge rejected their request.

The charter of political parties has been violated. Today, all the other political parties hold their weekly assembly, operate freely. There is no reason why only the UFDG and its headquarters can be closed. The other party raised the issue of security, as well as the incompetence of the judge. We believed the judge would have had the courage to order the reopening of the premises, because in reality, it is this measure that should have been applied. Therefore, an appeal will be filed within ten minutes following this decision. We will go before the court of appeals judge on one hand and on the other hand, we will also bring a full suit to obtain the release of the premises, because these premises belong to the UFDG, belong to the regularly constituted political party. There is no reason these premises should be closed by force.
