To awaken patriotism among the youth, Deputy Prime Minister of Defense Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita proposes integrating national celebrations into the school curriculum.

During the celebration of the National Day of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) on May 17, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister of Defense Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita called for the integration of national festivities into education. This initiative aims to strengthen patriotism among young Congolese in a context marked by insecurity and the activism of armed groups.
“Congolese youth must understand that the defense of the homeland is everyone's business,” Muadiamvita stated during a military parade in Kinshasa.
The Democratic Republic of Congo commemorates this day each year in honor of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the defense of the country. However, the celebrations take place in a tense atmosphere, marked by the active presence of armed groups such as the AFC/M23, supported by external forces.
“We must make children understand that every Congolese has a part in this defense,” added Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita.
Congolese authorities hope that this educational initiative will not only strengthen patriotism but also promote better social cohesion in the face of ongoing security threats. By integrating these values into the school curriculum, they aim to prepare a generation that is aware and engaged in national defense.
