The Forcesvives civil society coalitions are denouncing the massive return, since November 15 last, of Ugandan LRA rebels in the Bakulagba grouping, in Ndolomo chiefdom (Upper Uele). In a memorandum addressed Saturday December 21 to provincial authorities, these citizen organizations say they have already recorded six incidents since the return of this armed group.
On November 25 last, an undetermined number of people were kidnapped in the city of Bilikwa in the same grouping. An operation that occurred more than a week after the return of the LRA, notes civil society.
On December 7, 16 and 17 the alleged LRA operated in Masombo Doruma. With each incursion, looting of the population's property and kidnapping of several people were reported.
Furthermore, the citizen structures of Dungu, Niangara and Faradje did not limit themselves to this denunciation. They are also protesting against the relocation of the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo) regiment headquarters from Bangadi to Niangara.
According to them, this move creates a corridor of approximately 150 km that would be favorable to the enemy, risking multiplying its incursions in the region.
In order to address this situation, civil societies in these territories propose the return of the regiment headquarters to Bangadi. They also suggest the establishment of FARDC checkpoints at intervals of at least 15 to 20 km each.
They also urge the reinforcement of military personnel in Doruma and at the border between the DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and South Sudan.
