Indeed, a decision that emerged from the extraordinary congress. Members of the eagle party gathered in Gitega, this Sunday, January 24, 2021, in Burundi's political capital.
Moreover, this former president of the senate succeeds Évariste Ndayishimiye, current president of the Republic of Burundi. He had held this position since 2016.
Révérien Ndikuriyo, born in 1970 on the Sampeke hill, Kayogoro commune, Makamba province. He attended the University of Burundi from 1992 to 1995.
He was Governor of Makamba province from 2004 to 2007. He sat in the National Assembly of Burundi as a deputy from 2007 to 2010. During a period when he held the position of president of the permanent commission in charge of political, administrative and diplomatic affairs.
From 2010 to 2015, Ndikuriyo was a senator and member of the permanent commission in charge of administrative matters and decentralization. And responsible for oversight of representativeness in institutions.
From 2015 to 2020, he was president of the Burundian senate.
He held several positions from 2008 to the present, notably that of president of the Aigle Noir FC football club.
General Commissioner in charge of monitoring-evaluation and party life, social affairs and community development within the CNDD-FDD party.
The previous year, during legislative elections, he was elected representative of the people for the Makamba constituency. A province of which he is a native; and until today a senator.
But also president of the Football Federation of Burundi (FFB). And member of the permanent commission at the African Football Confederation in charge of organizing the CANU-17.
