During the national conference on COVID-19 progress assessment, he gave the green light for bars and restaurants to operate.
"You can now drink alcohol," said President Kenyatta.
However, he said, bars will close at 4 p.m. and no one will be allowed to be in these venues beyond the authorized time.
Likewise, President Kenyatta announced that the number of people allowed to attend ceremonies, weddings and funerals has been increased to 200 from the original 100.
Regarding education, the president stated that schools will continue to remain closed until all strategies to ensure student safety are finalized and implemented.
He stated that the risk of COVID-19 infection in the country has fallen to 4.4% compared to 13% in June of this year.
"We have not yet won the war, we are in danger of the second phase, and this is a sign that the enemy still lives within our borders and we are constantly recording new cases of infection every day," Kenyatta said.
Concluding his address to the nation, the president urged Kenyans to remain vigilant. He called on them to continue following existing regulations to prevent the spread of this pandemic.
