Senate President Révérien Ndikuriyo gathered on Monday, July 15, 2019, at the capital of Makamba province, local elected officials, heads of commune services, representatives of religious denominations as well as representatives of defense and security forces of this province. Objective: to discuss the life of the province in general, with a view to raising awareness among the population about changing behavior for its development.

According to the governor of Makamba, the contribution for the 2020 elections is satisfactory throughout the province, as the collection reached 97.58%.
Senate President Révérien Ndikuriyo first thanked the people of Makamba and all Burundian citizens for fulfilling their civic duty to contribute to the elections, a way according to him to reaffirm Burundi's sovereignty dearly acquired.
In his multiple pieces of advice to the representatives of the people of Makamba, Révérien Ndikuriyo insisted on the change of mentality of the population and invited them to develop new work strategies to achieve integral development.
"We must develop our province in such a way that it is a national and international reference. And to achieve this, each person must in particular plan their development project and join cooperatives," he explained.
According to the Senate President, this grouping in cooperatives would allow them to implement large-scale projects such as processing units, in order to properly preserve and market their harvests.
Addressing young people, Révérien Ndikuriyo reminded them that the period of long vacations is a good opportunity to tackle household and agricultural work. He also invited them to participate in development work organized in their respective localities. And administrative officials must organize this work in order to usefully occupy these young people on vacation, he added.
The Senate President also asked the people of Makamba to pay taxes and levies and to fight corruption, actions that are part of the engine of development and that prove each person's patriotic spirit.
